The Central High School (CHS) guidance staff has created a webpage for students and parents to view important information related to academic and career planning as well as personal needs.
Students visiting the page can access scholarship information, upcoming events, testing information and announcements. Guidance counselor Katie Cooper said the website will be updated regularly to keep students and parents informed.
“Last year we received feedback from parents regarding a need for more scholarship information and communication about what is happening at school related to guidance,” she said. “Now that we have a website, students and parents can search for scholarships and stay up to date with what is going on at school. Parents can also stay informed by checking the website for important educational information.”
Other than scholarship information, student and parents can stay up to date on other things the Guidance staff is doing, like Future Focus Day (October 12th).
“It is more than just a website, it is a communication tool to keep parents, teachers and students aware of everything that is going on,” Cooper said. “We hope parents use the website and give us suggestions on how it can be improved for the benefit of CHS students.”
Senior Zeke Webber, 17, is a member of the Marching Eagles and said he has used the website. Webber said he is hoping to attend Winthrop or USC next fall and has searched the site to find scholarships to help pay for tuition.
Assistant Principal and Public Information Officer Ken Buck said the website is excellent.
“Sometimes students do not know what’s available for them,” Buck said. “Now we have this website from the guidance department to keep them informed of the military, college and any other career path a student decides to take.”
